Travel Series: Glamping in Guerneville - Russian River, CA

Travel Series: Glamping in Guerneville - Russian River, CA

Since I've had a low-key obsession with glamping ever since I first heard the term, it was high time to check it out. Then, I found a spot that was just an hour and a half from the Bay Area and the deal was sealed! This trip was a little pleasure and a little business, I took the hubs for a belated birthday getaway and to see if it would be good for future retreats. Win-win!

Do You (Yoga) Fest?

Do You (Yoga) Fest?

For the last five years or so, I have thoroughly enjoyed everything festivals have to offer; from the food, to the people, music, art, and activities. Festivals are a great opportunity to really step outside of the ol’ comfort zone.

My festival experience began with Wanderlust, a pretty well-known yoga festival hosted in ten different locations across North America.

Landing a Yoga Teaching Job

Landing a Yoga Teaching Job

As with any career, being a yoga teacher presents its own challenges. Some of the biggest challenges and frustrations that I’ve encountered in my eight years of teaching is about knowing the right people and being the right place at the right time. Which can feel like so much happenstance. I used to be really frustrated at this, the idea that people were getting ahead because they knew someone or because they’re friend knows someone. It wasn’t until I began to realize that I have the same opportunities available to me and that while another yoga teacher might have their network, I, too, can have my very own network and community.

Lessons From My First Yoga Retreat

Lessons From My First Yoga Retreat

I can vividly remember having a conversation with my momma in 2011 when I first told her I was enrolled in yoga teacher training and how I might be able to combine my love of travel and yoga into offering yoga retreats. My husband and I both love to host get togethers, creating experiences for our friends and family to commune and spend time together. With all of this, leading retreats feels like such a dream come true. We learned a lot leading this first retreat, and I can't wait for many more to come.

Our first retreat was a wild success by any measure, but every event offers its own learnings. Here is what I’ll be changing up a bit for our Coastal Glamping yoga retreat in the fall.

Check out my learnings below.

Dreams Do Come True

Dreams Do Come True

Our Joshua Tree weekend was pure magic and a dream come true.

After years of learning and growing as a teacher, I have arrived at a place to expand my offering. Leading retreats and creating a community to call home has been a long time goal of mine. The potency of dedicated time to focus on self-care and tuning into our intuition is beyond measure. Much of my personal transformational learning and growth has come from a combination of travel and training in retreats. Read on for more….

Movement for Mental Health

Movement for Mental Health

For years during and after college, I worked out to undo all the bad food and (adult) beverage choices I had made. If I overindulged, I would force myself to stay at the gym for hours, slugging away on the dreadmill or stair stepper. I wasn’t interested in lifting weights because I certainly didn’t want to add any bulk to my body. As a result, for years, I dreaded going to the gym to workout.

It wasn’t until I found yoga that I slowly began to realize that movement in the body can be used for so much more than penance for bad eating habits.

Nighttime Routine for Success

Nighttime Routine for Success

Are you a morning person? If so, we can’t be friends. Jk, jk! I still love you, but I’ll never understand you. My mind cannot make decisions first thing in the morning… I sleep hard and deep which leaves me feeling foggy most mornings. After a solid 30 minutes, I’ll be rocking and rolling, but let’s be honest the morning hustle and commute is real.

I’ve learned a few things over the years that help me feel prepared and ready as soon as the alarm goes off in the morning—which means my nighttime routine has become essential. Let’s break it down.

Building, Learning + Collaborating

Building, Learning + Collaborating

One of the biggest takeaways from our training in December is that no matter what it is you’re creating, consistency is key. So, without fail, I’ve met my personal deadlines of posting weekly and with an eye to share, teach, or provide value to all of you. Out of this, a few opportunities have come my way. The YBC team reached out to collaborate! I was sent their quarterly winter YBC Mantra Box® to review and enjoy and now I get to share it with you!
