Practice: Build Inversion Strength

In our last video, we worked on opening up the shoulders after a strong practice so this week I’m sharing a simple yet effective drill that will help build strength throughout the entire shoulder girdle in preparation for any amount of weight-bearing you might do in your yoga practice.

The key here is to keep the arms super straight! Trust me, I know they want to bend but just don’t do it. ;) Then, think about squeezing a pencil between your shoulder blades. It’s a slightly lesser range of motion than a typical cat/cow combination but super effective at recruiting all the supporting muscles you’ll need for any type of arm balancing.

Let me know how it goes and stay tuned for a longer practice coming up next week.
